Descripción de la vacante

Founded in 2005, XP Group is an international upstream energy company focused on field development, mature asset rehabilitation, and production enhancement. Operating across multiple countries, we drive sustainable production growth through operational excellence, technology, and responsible investment.

Following the signing of a long-term contract in the Orinoco Belt, one of the world's largest hydrocarbon provinces, we are building our organization in Venezuela and are seeking talented professionals to join this exciting growth opportunity.

We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team in Caracas, Venezuela.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and integrating the technical development of XP Group’s oil and gas assets in Venezuela.

Reporting directly to the Country Manager, functionally to the New Ventures Manager, the role integrates reservoir engineering, field development planning, drilling and workover engineering, production/process engineering and surface facilities into a single technically robust, economically optimized and executable development plan.

The position acts as the Country Manager’s principal technical advisor on field development matters and ensures alignment between reservoir potential, production targets, well programs, infrastructure requirements, investment plans and execution priorities.

Main responsibilities:

Skills & Experience

What We Offer

  • Reservoir & Integrated Studies: Lead and coordinate reservoir characterization, modelling, production forecasting, depletion strategies and evaluation of IOR/EOR opportunities. Identify key subsurface uncertainties and their impact on development decisions.
  • Field Development Planning: Own and continuously update the Field Development Plan (FDP), integrating reservoir, production, drilling/workover and facilities requirements. Develop alternative scenarios and translate them into production profiles, activity plans, CAPEX/OPEX requirements and implementation schedules.
  • Drilling & Workover: Define and prioritize new wells, reactivations, recompletions and workover programs. Coordinate well concepts, technical programs, cost estimates and contractor engineering with reservoir and production objectives.
  • Production & Process Engineering: Integrate reservoir forecasts with realistic well and production-system performance. Oversee production optimization, artificial lift, process requirements and identification of constraints and debottlenecking opportunities.
  • Surface Facilities & Projects: Define the facilities strategy required to support the FDP, including gathering, processing, water/gas handling, storage, utilities and export infrastructure. Lead concept selection and coordinate engineering studies through FEED and execution readiness.
  • Integrated Technical Planning: Maintain a single integrated development plan linking reservoir forecasts, well activities, facilities capacity, projects, schedules, CAPEX/OPEX and business-plan targets. Ensure short-term production initiatives remain consistent with long-term asset value.
  • Technical Assurance & Contractors: Establish appropriate technical reviews, prepare scopes of work, evaluate engineering proposals and coordinate specialist consultants and contractors. Provide clear technical recommendations for investment decisions.
  • Stakeholder Interface: Support the Country Manager in technical discussions with partners, authorities and other Venezuelan stakeholders, including technical inputs to development plans, work programs and regulatory submissions.
  • Degree in Petroleum, Reservoir, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 12 to 15+ years of upstream oil & gas experience, with significant exposure to multidisciplinary field development.
  • Strong expertise in at least one core discipline, ideally reservoir, petroleum/production, wells or development engineering, combined with demonstrated ability to integrate other disciplines.
  • Proven experience preparing or executing Field Development Plans.
  • Experience with mature-field redevelopment, production enhancement, workovers and brownfield facilities strongly preferred.
  • Venezuela or Latin American operating experience highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of reservoir modelling, production forecasting, well engineering, surface facilities, CAPEX/OPEX estimation and technical-economic optimization.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Petrel, Eclipse/INTERSECT, CMG, MBAL, PROSPER, GAP or Pipesim is an advantage.
  • Strong multidisciplinary engineering judgment and ability to view the reservoir, wells and surface facilities as one integrated production system.
  • Structured, pragmatic and commercially aware decision-making.
  • Strong leadership and ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams without necessarily having direct hierarchical authority.
  • Ability to challenge technical assumptions and make decisions under uncertainty.
  • Strong contractor and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate complex engineering issues into clear recommendations for senior management.
  • Spanish: fluent professional proficiency. English: strong professional working proficiency.
  • Flexibility and mobility for regular field visits.
  • The opportunity to play a key leadership role in building and supporting a growing business in Venezuela.
  • A dynamic and challenging position within an international energy company focused on reducing the environmental footprint of oil and gas operations.
  • Exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • Professional development and training opportunities.
  • A collaborative culture that values accountability, innovation, teamwork, and initiative.
